I have been on these boards for almost a year and have been working to clean up my credit. I enrolled in a debt management (not settlement) program and am doing great with it. All of my accounts have been reaged after making 3 positive payments so I am no longer showing past due on my credit reports. Now to the issue: I have received 2 letters from 2 accounts that have been sent to collections.
Collection 1) OC: First Viginia - for a line of credit (formerly a payday loan) that I defaulted on. It was originially $750. It has now been sent to Professional Placement Services, LLC for collection and has grown to $1420 according to their collection letter. They sent the dunning notice on 11/17/11 but I just received it out of the mail on 12/20. I moved and had my mail forwarded months ago but am still getting things that were sent back in october & november. What should I do now? Do i still send them a DV (validation or verification) since its past 30 days?
Collection 2) OC: Bank of America - It was originally $363.24 but the dunning letter sent by the collection agency Convergent Outsourcing states $670.00. I just received this letter on 12/17/11. What should I do with this? Do I send a DV since I am still within 30 days?
*****FYI****** The original creditors have not reported the delinquent accounts to any of the CRAs. Bank of America has stated they do not report it. The collection agencies have not reported this either.
YES. DV TODAY. For the first one, I'd write a brief note that you just received the notice, then move onto the DV portion. Make sure you keep copies.
IMO, send CMRRR. Looks official and possibly will make them take you more seriously.
