New Collection Pop up!!

So for the last 2 months Ive been getting a call from Enterprise Recovery Systems and just ignored them. So today I pull my FICO 8 scores and I see a closed collection account on Experian in the amount of $9,000 for Wayne State University.

I havent been to Wayne State in years. Im just in complete shock. It started reporting 9/15 and ended 11/15.  I just want to cry! I have no idea what it could be for becasue I use VA  Post 9/11 GI Bill Funds, and of course if I ever failed a class I had to pay the VA directly. Im in total shock.

Re: New Collection Pop up!!

Did they ever send you a formal collection ("dunning") notice, advising you that they were collecting on the debt, its amount, and advise you of your right to request debt validation?  They were required to have sent dunning notice within 5 days after their initial communication with you.

You can send them a request for validation of the debt ("DV"), and if sent either prior to any dunning notice, or within 30 days after dunning notice, it will impose a cease collection bar on them until they have sent you the requirest validation of the debt.

In the meantime, you could make some informal calls to the University and see what they say about any asserted debt.........

Re: New Collection Pop up!!

No, I have never recieved any letter or talked to anyone. I just randomly started getting calls out the blue and then noticed it on my CR today.

I havent attended Wayne State in 2 years and as stated before never had a loan directly with them as I used Post 9/11 GI Bill VA benefits.

I called experian and disputed the account that I have no knowledge and dont beleive this is my account
