Newbie - Removing Medical Collections

I am new to this site but already I am learning a lot!

I have several collections on my account most are paid and a few unpaid I didn't even know existed. All of the collections are medical.

My question is: How do I remove these from my credit report? Is the approch the same for both paid and non-paid? Should I pay the collection agencies before trying to remove them? And for those that are already paid how do I get them removed?

Thanks in advance,

Ron  Smiley Happy

No dont pay first, you can use payment as a leverage for a delete of the debt.Check out the PFD Letters.

And for those that are already paid how do I get them removed?

Call or send a  G W letter to the CA, asking kindly if they would delete.

Just to let you know, some CA's will agree to PFD's and GW's and others will not.

Thanks in advance,

Re: Newbie - Removing Medical Collections

Thanks for answer my questions! :-)

So there is no real way to force the CA's to delete the information since they are all medical debt?

And should I validate that the collection does indeed exist first? (Ie: call them up)

Re: Newbie - Removing Medical Collections

Some people have had luck with deleting CA's with the "HIPAA Process". Those steps are not on this site, but you can Google it.

The step have to be followed exactly for it to work and some people found the steps confusing.

To validate a debt, what most people do is to send a DV letter.

I would suggest reading What Steps Do I Take?Do I DV?PFD?

Hope this info helpsSmiley Wink And good luck to you.
