No dispute button for Transunion?

Hi all!  I'm still plugging away on improving my low scores....anyway, I noticed that on my Transunion report, an account from a credit agency is reporting incorrectly.  All the other accounts have a dispute button next to each account, but for some reason the credit agency accounts don't have one.  So I tried to dispute it anyway, because it was for cable equipment and I've already returned it to the OC, but the screen now says that I have to buy a new credit report in order to dispute! WTH? I have a monthly subscriptions with Truecredit.com(Transunion), I shouldn't have to pay for another report.  Any suggestions other than snail mail?  I really prefer to dispute online.

Thanks!Smiley Happy

Disputing is a last resort.  You can do so by fax, which is pretty easy to find with a search of these forums.  I'd first contact the OC and try to deal with them, though, and ONLY dispute as a last resort.

Hey Mauve,  thanks for replying.  May I ask why do you feel disputing should be a last resort? I'm just curious to know and understand and learn.  Many thanks!

Re: No dispute button for Transunion?

Disputing involves the CRA either contacting the CA or the OC or a 3rd party database to ask (it seems like without proof) if the entry is legit.  It places "under dispute" on your CR, which makes it impossible to get a loan for the period of time that it's on your report.  It's a frustrating, pointless exercise, based on what I've read here.  Depending on the specific issue, you may want to consult your records, contact the OC, or contact the CRA to ask about the furnisher of the information.  Which route you want to go depends on what the specific situation is.  CRA is not on your side, they are on the side of the OCs and CAs.  If you'll notice in some letters you will find, there is sometimes explicit language that it is an information request and NOT a dispute.
