Hi,
I had a collection placed on my credit bureau reports by Capio Partners. I'm in the process of getting divorced/selling my house/trying to buy a new house and didn't realize this had hit my reports. I'd like to get it removed if possible to improve my scores.
The debt is an old hospital bill. I was actually making auto payments on it until October 2017. Florida Hospital changed their billing system over right at the same time we were recovering from being hit by Hurricane Irma. I couldn't get into the new system and couldn't reach anyone @ FH in billing and then was just dealing with all of the aftermath of house repairs, bank stuff for loan forbearance, etc I forgot about it and they turned my autopay off in the new system and then this went to collection (totally my fault and I'm kicking myself for it now). Florida Hospital won't even talk to me about paying it.
I sent Capio Partners a request for debt validation and it was received and signed for by Capio Partners on 1/17/2020. I've yet to receive a reply to that letter.
I was going through a bunch of mail my ex had taken with him from the house and brought back and I found a letter from Capio partners offering a reduced payoff amount that they sent a while back (before I sent my letter).
I'm debating what to do. I paid off some credit cards and my loan officer submitted those for rapid rescore and is going to repull my credit later this week or early next week. Should I try to get Capio Partners to agree in writing to stop reporting the account to the credit bureaus in exchange for that payment then dispute it online, or wait out the next 14 days to see if they reply to my validation letter and just hope I did enough with paying off big credit card balances to get enough of a jump?

Medical collections are some of the easiest to get removed from your CRs, here are the steps that you should follow to address them:
1. Call the OC and see if insurance can be billed, (or-rebilled), collections ultimately paid by insurance get removed per new rules that came from CRAs settlement with 22 state AGs. If not then
2. see if you qualify for Charity Care, if not then
3. ask that they recall the collection in exchange for full payment
4. Send the reporting CA a PFD offer
5. Google the HIPAA Process and contact its creator for help, this process cannot be discussed in any forum of myFico.
Go to a Advent Health (formally FL Hospital) hospital in person to the billing dept. Pay the bill and ask them to remove the collections. I work for them for the past 10 yrs PT. They dont turn down payments. Good Luck.
