Re: Not sure where to start Help :)

First things first,

You need to know how FICO scores are made up. Sure, you have a few installment accounts but they only account for 10% of your score. With the Cap1 card, if that $191 balance reported, that showed you had a utilization of about 64% on that one card. That hurts alot.

30% of your score is based on balances to available credit. (with installment accounts, car loans, signature loans, etc, this is calculated a bit differently). So again, if that $191 reported, you took a hard ding on your score for it. Additionally, the First Premier CO balance is affecting your utilization. PIF or settle it for less, it doesn't matter at this point. They will not PFD.

If you want the best score increases, never let more then 10% of your balance report. For a $300 CL, that's $30.

For the Mauraudor, it has the OC listed and the OC is listed on your report. I would send Mauraudor a DV.

Current Scores - 8/26/2025

FICO 9

EQ - 769

TU - 778

EXP - 762

Re: Not sure where to start Help :)

Your goal is to purchase a home.  The lender will more than likely require that the collection accounts be paid before they will consider a loan, whether outside of SOL or not.  Even outside SOL you are still legally responsible for the debt and they can follow you around forever.  Being outside of SOL just means they cannot bring a suit against you and unless you live in MS or WI, the debt still exists.

If the SOL has expired, I would send DV letters to all of the CAs.  If they validate, send a PFD.

If the SOL has not expired, wait until you can PIF before sending a DV.

For the OC accounts that have been transferred/sold, send GW letters.

The one you don't know about you can file out a police report and an FTC Fraud Affidavit.  If you need more information on that let me know.

Get your current Cap 1 paid down.  Is this the only CC you have?

The CC that have been CO'd are affecting your utilization.  Pay those off or settle.  While it is widely known on the forums that FP does not accept GWs or PFD, I would try.  They say it but have done both for some posters.

Paying a collection has no impact on your score, unless they have not updated in a while.  Then paying it will cause your score to drop.

Re: Not sure where to start Help :)

Hey buddy, that is the only Credit card I have rite now. I have just recently learned of the 10% rule. I made a payment on that card Thursday of last week but had to use it during the weekend. I have since made another payment but not near as much as I need to after learning of that rule. I will not use it again until I get it paid back to $1 and then will keep it to no more than $20 and pay it off in full each month. I thought i was supposed to get it and use it and make larger payments than the minium. But. I was sorta wrong lol. I know now.

There is one to game stop, it was a check that bounced. I honestly didn't even realize it. Why, I don't know, It was an account that we didn't use much. Either way that one is my fault and I can pay it pretty quick.

Which ever collection accounts you can pay now, see if they are willing to do a PFD before you pay them.  You can call or email.

Re: Not sure where to start Help :)

I know this is a question that is almost impossible to answer but Ive just got to ask. Im trying to get a feel for our time line. If I pay the $184 and they do in fact delete it how much do you forsee it helping. The guy from Rising Point Solutions said no longer than 4 months and that was without paying any old debt. Does this seem to be legit you think.....

Re: Not sure where to start Help :)

Getting a collection deleted and the points you may gain really depends on how old it was and if there are still major derogatories on your report.  You normally never get back what you lost when they first reported.

Not wure what he means by 4 months and without paying any old debt.
