OC and CA do not know where my account is.

What could be done if an OC no longer has an account and the CA they sold it to no longer has the account, and no one can track it down?  Do I dispute it with the CRA?

I have an OC account on my credit report as a CO.  I do not have a CA on my credit report that correspond with this CO account.  I contacted the OC and they gave me the contact information of the CA they sold it to.  I DV'd the CA, but they could not validate because this account is closed in their office.  The CA told me to get back in touch with the OC.  The OC still shows that this CA has the account.

I'm not to worried about the CA because they are not reporting on my credit report.  What I want to try and get rid of is the Unpaid Charge-Off account with the OC.  How do I do that if I can't validate who has this account?

Thanks for your help.

If the OC sold the account to CA1 and CA1 no longer has the account, then they have sold or assigned it.

If the OC sold the account, they are now out of the picture.

You could add a statement to your file that you have attempted to pay but you can not locate owner of the account.

Other than that, I have no clue, maybe someone else will.

Filing complaints may prompt them to do something to find your account.

Edited to clarify, I would file the complaint against the CA who bought the account. You might have to contact someone higher up at the CA to find out what happened with your account. If they bought the account, they never returned it to the OC.

Edited again to add............Is the OC reporting a balance?

Re: OC and CA do not know where my account is.

The OC is and is not showing a balance. I say this because on my EQ/EX reports its showing a zero balance, charge-off. On my TU report its showing as CO with a balance.

So I'm not so sure where its at. If the OC did sell the account and no longer owns it, couldn't I dispute TU about the CO balance?

Thanks

Yes, if they are showing a balance and have sold the account, then that needs to be fixed.

Not sure that disputing it will help you out any trying to find out who has the account now.

Re: OC and CA do not know where my account is.

I just went through the same thing.  They sold my account to a law firm, then 3 more after that.  Nobody knows where the account is now.  The OC said they will take payment there.  Hopefully this does not come back to bite me when the owner of the account decides they want my money too.  Maybe your oc can recall the account?
