hello , I'm new to the community! I have a questions, I have an old Verizon Wireless Bill that was sent to collections in 2008, My husband and I are going to try to purchase a house in spring of next year, does anyone know if i should pay that old bill or not in order to get approved for a mortgage?
thanks in advance
Look on the threads here for how to PFD or "Pay for Delete". This is when you get the collection agency to remove a collection in return for full payment.
Ditto. Send PFD letters. They will accept a PFD agreement if you try hard enough. And they will say no more time than you can count. Just keep trying and start now. I had them and it took about 9-10 months before I was able to get it off via a PFD.
Per your lender, YMMV. It depends on the lender. I'd try to get it off now. Paying it without a PFD agreement will not help your score.
What Steps Do I Take - great for learning the repair process.
