Old Collections?

Hi all.  I am a newbie here.  I have learned sooooo much from you all just from lurking the past few weeks.  I have raised my scores by 20+ points!!  I do have a question about 2 collections that are reporting.  Both have been paid.  One is from Alltell communications.  DOFD is 6/2003.  The other one is from a medical immaging place, DOFD is 6/2004.  My question is, am I stuck with these baddies until they fall off in 2010 and 2011?  Or since they are paid (and have been paid for a few years) should I request that they get removed?  Sure wish I would have known about PFD a few years ago!!

Thanks for your help!!

Re: Old Collections?

Other than waiting, you do have two options. The first I would try is a GW letter to them. If that doesn't work, you can try sending a DV to them for this paid CA. You may have to change the DV around a little, but there are success stories in here of people DVing paid collections for removal.

The medical imaging bill ... did you pay the CA or the OC?

If you paid the OC, send'em a HIPPA letter. It demands that since you paid them, they have to stop the CA from reporting your debt.

For the AlTel, send them a GW letter asking them to pretty, pretty, pretty please remove the TL from your file!!

Good point. You can also try contacting the OC. Often the medical office won't sell the debt and a simple call to the OC could expedite the removal of the CA.

Re: Old Collections?

I will GW Alltel and hope they just remove it.

As for the medical immaging...hhhmmm I think I paid the actual immaging place, not the CA.
