Eastern account systems: balance- 176 ( I paid and they promised to delete!)
Aspire cc charge off (from 2020, sent to collection agency) balance- 1,234
They agreed to settle for 810
Show mcc charged off in 2020 (still with original creditor) balance 912 (agreed to settle for 371)
The only thing left is an old Verizon collection. They said sold to Jefferson Collections. Jefferson says its been closed and they can't help me.
This one is due to fall off in another year but shows up as collection report.
I check my report today and the Jefferson account went from open collection to closed? Nobody I am calling says they have my account and they keep bouncing me back and forth.
So
1) how should I proceed with this mysterious account that is reporting every month?
2) can anyone please reassure me I did the right thing by paying large sums of money to these two 2 year old charge offs that weren't reporting and weren't in collections!!

Jefferson has to delete if they do not own it and they have no contract to collect on it, its per CRA rules collectors can only report if they have collection authority. Yes you did right by paying those off before they went to collections or even worse a judgment. They will update to 0 balance and it may affect Fico for awhile or the loss of the amounts in utilization use may overcome that in its entirety.
