Opinion on gw

I have a situation with my student loans account, they are reporting 90 and 120 days late for Dec and Jan. I got the account in forbearance presently and can afford to PIF next month when forbearance finishes. Would you send a GW letter with the payment? Can I send a GW letter now that I still owe them the $400 or wait until payment is received and a few months have passed?

Re: Opinion on gw

I am by no means an expert at this, but my suggestion would be to call and discuss with an account rep. Let them know your situation, tell them you want to PIF and ask about the possibility of removing the lates for PIF. You do not want to PFD because that would remove a possibly good TL from your report and could lower your score. What you want in this case is just removal of the lates on your report. Having the ability to PIF gives you a little bargaining power with them. That is the route I would personally take if it were my situation. Hope this helps.
