Re: PFD Example Letter

I don't understand... At the bottom in blue letters you say don't use the word dispute, give time limits, or threaten validation if they refuse. Yet, all of this is in the letter!?

Can someone explain?

Re: PFD Example Letter

Hi all,

New poster. Thanks for the great information!

I have to admit that I am also confused by the bright blue disclaimer at the bottom of the letter in the OP. I take it that the letter is okay as it is?

I have three medical accounts in collections. Two were made when I was unemployed. A third was the remainder of a sleep study bill which my insurance did not pay for and I thought they were going to pay for. The bills are $300, $185, and $157, respectively. I am willing to pay them off in exchange for deletion from my credit report. Would I mention that I was unemployed at the time the bills were made? I have four accounts in collections in total (1 other is a credit card). I am hoping that by paying off these accounts, my score might approve a few points.

Re: PFD Example Letter

Update on my case. After getting the alert that I had a "NEW" collection on my report, I called the collections company direct and spoke with a supervisor. They had actually sent a letter agreeing to the terms and updated my record with my new address which could have been why it showed as new. Very helpful and seems I am all clear on collections now.

Re: PFD Example Letter

The fact that you have MEDICAL accounts in collections is excellent news. Medical accounts are very easy to remove and 9 times out if 10 they will do a Pfd AND more than likely you can negotiate to pay a lesser amount. Start out with 30/33%, if they deny your offer move up to 50%, then 75% and so forth. If you are not willing to wait the time it will take to negotiate... Make sure you do aPFD letter and do everything in writing. A supervisors word is not a confirmation that if you pay it they will delete. You wouldn't want to pay it off and it only to have it remain there. You need to have the upper hand here.
There are other options when it comes to medical which I am not allowed to discuss on the site but honestly... They are such low amounts I'd just pay them at a percentage.
Additionally, try to first dispute them through the CB if you can find any errors even if its a birthdate, misspelled name, etc.
my experience was that I was able to remove 27 medical accounts in 1 year using the above process.
Good luck and feel free to private message me with any questions.

Re: PFD Example Letter

I really didn't think I could negotiate a medical bill settlement. I have just paid the entire amount because I assume the money gets back to the DR somehow. It seems that my doctor's office works closely with their collection agency. I really--in the end--don't want to not pay for my doctor's services. I just hate dealing with insurance companies that will reject payment based off of which treatment code my doctor uses.
