Pay off debt or clean start

I have absolutely destroyed my credit. Partly due to the pandemic and partly due to my own irresponsible behaviors.

I currently have a TU-565 EX-546 Eq-544

i have multiple charge offs and a recent motorcycle repossession from a subprime lender.

USAA loan charge off 2021- $27,000

American financial moto chargeoff 2021- $11,000

Navy Federal overdraft charge off 2021- $1800

Chase nearing charge off but keeping it alive: $9000

Discover charged off and judgement 2021-$1700

Captail One charge off 2021- $600

Amazon store card/Alpheon cosmetic credit/ Walmart in collections  nearing 5-6 years- $9000 total

Student loan defaults on Sally Mae and US department of education totaling $110,000

tons of late payments; many of which were 60-90 days

I want to buy a home eventually . I want decent credit again.

Do I file chapter 7 or just pay off my debt? I'd rather pay it off. But, if you think that's undoable please let me know. If it's possible. Please tell me how.

I just applied for a credit one card and was approved with a $400 limit. All my credit cards are closed and in collections

I'll have about $2000-$3000 per month for debt

Re: Pay off debt or clean start

Adding it up your rounded off at $60,000. SL's wont be wiped out. I never say yes file BK. Thats your choice. But you'd be debt free and can start all over again responsibly. Plus the stress isnt good for your health from debt. Think you get my point. Talk to a few lawyers and see whats up and what you qualify for.

The 100+k SL will be easier to pay down then.

Re: Pay off debt or clean start

My thoughts (if you try to avoid bk)

1) the accounts at 5-6 years may be passed the SOL. Have you done nothing with those accounts since they went delinquent? Have any sued you?

2) Rehab the student loans and get in IDR or extended repayment

3) call and try to get the absolute lowest payment possible for accounts over $5000. If they want too much just make some small regular payments to start. Ideally keep the payments for those 3 accounts under $1000.

4) if between student loans and the 3 accounts over $5000 you have your payments at $1500 use the extra 500-1000 to settle the smaller accounts for less than owed

5) in a couple months you'll have the small accounts gone and have 500-1000 to either put towards the higher debts or save to make settlement offers.

6) then monitor your credit and watch for offers for lower rate loans to payoff larger debts
