Penn Credit Corp - Collection - PFD

I have an old utility bill I need to settle through Penn Credit Corp. When I called them they were offering to settle for 30% of the amount in exchange for writing that it was paid. I called back the next day and told them I would be willing to pay the amount in full if they removed it from my credit reports. The person on the phone told me me no "they can't and will not it's not even possible". I politely told them I know they are the furnisher of this information and that I know they can remove debt from credit agencies as they can report it. He then yelled into the phone "THIS CREDIT AGENCY, PENN CREDIT CORP, CAN NOT AND WILL NOT REMOVE ANYTHING IN EXCHANGE FOR PAYMENT. THERE WOULD BE NO REASONS TO HAVE COLLECTION AGENCIES IF THAT WERE TRUE". I said okay, I'll said for the SOL for it to fall off and hung up.

I have read some people have had success with this agency. But mostly not. Could this creditor be lying to me? Should I send a PFD letter or is it a waste of my time? Also, if they're not willing to delete it wouldn't it make more sense for me to settle for less than the amount since it will make virtually no difference on my score?

Thanks.

Go right to the top to the President or CEOs office. You also want to make sure its past states SOL before telling them that you will just wait for it to fall off. The SOL and time it can remain on your reports are not the same thing. The max time it can remain on file is 7.5 yrs from the OCs DoFD. This would be considered a written contract for states SOL purposes.
