Hi everyone! I am new to this whole credit forum thing, so please pardon me if I dont use exact words. I need help with my credit. I have been obsessing over this for the last few weeks. I am trying to rebuild my credit but I have no idea how. I think I am on the right path, but not sure. I made tons of mistakes when I was younger, with no regard. I currently am working on my credit. I have a fico of 607 ex, 579, tr, and 569 eq. I have a tax lien on there, from something that happened 6 years ago. I have a total of 11 collection accounts, with total debt of 3300. Most of these collections accounts are hospital bills. One charged off credit card, and thats pretty much it. I have 2 accounts scheduled to be removed in 2 weeks, which will take me down to 1200 total debt. I disputed a few bills on my credit. Not sure if I should just wait for them to fall off or what to do. I also have 3 hard inquiries dropping 2/26. Jut got approved for a target credit card. Just trying to see systematically what is best to do for me to get my credit up to 700 by April. Please help. Btw I need that for a business loan, just graduated and opening a print shop. Thank you.

Welcome to myfico. Wonderful site to help with rebuilding credit going forward. To be realistic, I don't think you'll be able to get your score up to 700 this quickly unless you can get all the collections, tax lien, and lates removed from your report. Read up on PFD (pay for delete) and GW (good willing) on the forum. Which debts are you able to pay in full and request PFD? I've been rebuilding for almost a year and a half and am still waiting for a paid collection to fall off along with the late payments from that charged off account. You need to have 3 positive tradelines, preferably bank cards reporting, and 1 installment loan in good standing for FICO scoring purposes. With your current scores, you could be looking at having to get secured cards and a secured loan to get going. You can check the prequal site for Capital One and see if anything shows up. I have never had any dealings with Open Sky and Milestone, but I don't recall seeing anything too negative on the forum about them. STAY AWAY FROM CREDIT ONE. Congrats on the target approval. I don't have any experience with tax liens, so I can't offer any suggestions there. My story is involves having some financial problems in late 2008 through 2009 and I messed up my credit then. Didn't really started rebuilding until late 2014. You have to take care of the negative things on your report, obtain positive tradelines, and time is your best friend. Good luck.![]()
Thank you guys for the feedback, it is really appreciated. Going to work on the negative stuff starting this week. Thank you!

rikeaf,
Like you've been told, just getting to the high-mid 600's by April will be some work and You'd really have to pay off a bunch of stuff and get the OP/CA to Delete the acct once it's paid.
As for rebuilding, You should go to the Cap1 pre-qual site linked below and see what they offer you. With those scores you should qualify for the QS1 and Platinum cards. If they come up app the Plat. and as soon as you get approval for it app the QS1. You will end up with 2 CC's and only 1 HP (across all 3B's).
For the installment loan mentioned I have this to offer;
I don't know what state you live in and they are only in a few states but you can bank with them online just fine.
I bank with a small bank called Best Bank (they are a subsidiary of Guaranty Bank headquatered in Mississippi). They are very friendly to those with Chex Systems and other check services issues. (not my reason for using them but just throwing it out there). They have a thing called a Credit Builder Loan. You would need to have a small checking acct with them $100-200 and then you can apply. The most awesome part of it is that they take $1000 of their money and put it in a CD and open a $1000 installment loan for you. It reports to all 3B's as an installment loan with no caveats. The payment is $22mth for 60mths and they take it out of your acct each month so you would need to keep putting a few dollars in every month to stay ahead of your payments but if you were to front load the acct with a few bucks you would have a cushion against a month when things are tight and not default on the loan. You can pay it off anytime during the life of the loan with no penalties. I paid mine off too quickly within several months to avoid the interest I would have paid over the life of the loan and it negatively affected my scores for a couple of months.
Anyway, this is a win-win. You get a reporting installment loan of $1000 and didn't have to use your money to fund it...
