First thing first...THANK YOU to everyone who contributes to this forum. You all have helped me move my score from the low 400's to 611. While it's still not perfect, I'm happy knowing that the score is climbing.
When I was younger I completely ruined my credit. Maxing out credit cards, closing accounts and having balances fall into collections.
Now that I'm older and wiser, I've put my head on right and starting making payments on time and keeping my balances low.
My credit cards are: EXPRESS, LOWES, FIRST PROGRESS, ABERCROMBIE & FITCH & VICTORIA SECRET.
I've had my share of difficult collection companies like Real Time Resolutions & Sullivan & Associates, Ad Astra Recovery Services...and beat them all!
An HSBC account is currently being listed under collections for the amount of $457.00, being serviced by Portfolio Recovery for the past 10 months. I've received numerous letters and phone calls from them but didn't know how to handle the matter at the time. Their website allows you to locate your account and view your due balance with the last 4 digits of your social and zip code. I reached out to their customer service to inquiry about validation of debt and if the debt is indeed mine, I would pay the full amount but only if they would delete the derogatory mark on my credit report. They declined and informed me they would mail documentation in regards to the debt to my home address. Few days later...I received it. It was an old statement from HSBC and that was about it. I really didn't think this was enough proof and decided to file a complaint with the credit bureaus.
I've disputed the account numerous times with Equifax & Transunion, but they always claimed it was verified and mine. I decided to file a complaint with CFPB. I filed my complaint and wondered what would be the outcome. While my complaint has been sent to Portfolio, I noticed I can't log into Portfolio's website to view the debt.

Could it be that this information is now gone?! Or is it too early to think that..
I sure did. I doubt they will remove this account! Makes no sense why their page can no longer locate the account.
