The debt is paid, no need to feel nervous.You can call the CA,they will not be asking for money or sue because it's paid.The CA is use to asking for money from people, but since it's paid, I feel they will be nice to you.Letters are better because you have a paper trail,but you can call if you want to, it's up to you.
Call the CA, and just ask nicely if they will delete.
Explain you know it has only 1more year to report,ask if they wouldn't mind deleting early.If they say OK, then it's done,Deleted.
If they say no, then ask" how was the debt paid?". Also ask for the OC contact info and the persons name that sent the debt to them.
That way you have, exactly the right person at the OC you need to talk to. Maybe this person can fix this whole mess.
