Helping my girlfriend rebuild her credit. She has multiple student loans that are late, but I first want to get som information on Public Records:

She has one Public Record from back in July 2004. When I asked her about it, she said it was from an old apartment she used to rent. Will this go

away after 7 years? (This July)??

Judgments usually drop after 7 years, but technically they can remain until the statute of limitations has expired if longer than 7 years.  If the judgment is renewed, it can also continue on your credit report for another 7 years.  But, again, they usually drop after 7 years.
