I have gotten all fradulent accounts and activity deleted from my reports. so that is not my concern.
It is junk debt collectors trying to collect on the debt. Eventhough it has been quite some time (about 3 months) since I have even seen a new collector send me a letter.
However, here is where my question arrives. I see several soft inquiries on my reports from some collection agencies.
What do they do when they don't see the original defauled accounts on my CR as they were deleted and innaccurate? What do they do when they see the fraud alert? Do they run scared, do they realize the debt that have is fradulent because there is no Original account on my CR, and the extended fraud alert statement? I never hear from these companies after they pull, no letter anything. They never show up on my report as accounts. I don't care because its a soft pull but I am just curious.
Thanks. Hope I wrote that okay, and it is understandable. lol
I am not sure how to respond about what the CA's feel when they pull your credit.
I can share with you how I handled the collection efforts of some stolen credit card checks...
I didn't do the DV letter. I sent them a letter that basically said the checks were stolen, the police had video tape of the thief in action, and here's the case number. If you can't reach the police yourself, then I would be happy to call the lead detective on your behalf and have them show up on your doorstep. That successfully ended ALL collection attempts. Nothing negative on the credit report.
I had unsuccessfully tried dealing directly with the companies that were victims of the scam. They really did not care what the story was, they just wanted their money.
Publix is the only company that sorta co-operated.
And that was when the police showed up at their store.
FYI -- anyone can call the credit card company and tell them you do NOT want to receive convenience checks in the mail!
