Hey guys. So I've been trying to get my credit back in check because I look forward to getting a place next year. I looked at my ck account and it shows I have 2 closed accounts. One with bank of america and another with capital one. I tried disputing on the app but that didnt help. I call capital one today and claimed I dont know just to be on the same side. They offered to settle for 50% and it wasnt a lot that I owed at all. The reason im on here is to see if anyone can help me get them removed. They wouldnt do a PFD so im not sure whats next.
If they didn't agree to a PFD and you already paid them, then all you can do is try GW Removal. Search "GW Saturation" on here on the forums for some examples. Be aware though, they simply may not budge and may refuse to remove the TL.
ETA: Why were you disputing the accounts? Was there something inaccurate about them?
The accounts havent been paid yet they just offered that and said I would have to look into some things and call back. I disputed just simply because some people online said it worked. Im sure you've seen the posts but maybe its not the smartest thing to do. So pretty much I owe those 2 cards and they dont come up as derogatory marks just closed accounts that I'd like removed or the next best option to not hurt my credit or improve it

Need more info. When you say they don't come up as derogatory, what does that mean? Are they not in collections? Are they not showing a charge off? If they are not reporting as either one of those, I would take the opportunity to pay them before they do. A charge off will hurt your scores the entire 7 years it's on your report. A collection will drop your score and if the collection agency won't PFD , even if you pay it will still show up on your reports. I'm assuming they're are lates associated with these two cards? If it were me, I would pay them before they go to charge off status or collection. Then start a goodwill campaign to try to have the lates removed. Also, disputing accurate info is a no no. When it comes back verified, it usually dings your score again. Kind of like hitting the refresh button.
Sorry if im not explaining it right im new to a lot of this. I appreciate you stopping by my post I a lot of knowledgeable people on here. So when I was 19 i got a boa credit card and was paying it for a little then just decided not to one day(right now balance shows $1103)(4yrs, 8 months old. But closed feb 8 2017). I know. Fast forward 2 years later. I got a capital one secured card was good for a bit and decided I didnt wanna continue using it not thinking the deposit on it wasnt enough. So that was closed as well($140 balance)(2 yrs 4 months old. Closed aug 21 2018). Both cards probably show a lot of late payments since I just straight up stopped. I was young and never had the guidance in this. Small family. But regardless here I am today with another capital one secured card I've been good with it for the 7 months I've had it. So on the CK app its showing 0 derogatory marks which I assume is good and then under total accounts it shows 3. The capital one card I have now, the old capital one, and the boa. I was just wondering if in your guys eyes there was anything I can do to get this off or fix it without damaging my credit immensely.
Zero derogatory remarks? I would double check that because if you stopped paying the accounts I can only assume they were eventually charged off and/or sold to a CA. Pull up your reports on annualcreditreport.com (free weekly reports until April '21 due to COVID) and look deeper into those three accounts.
Ok so the accounts haven't been charged off. The best thing that you can do is reach out to Cap One and see if they will either settle, or start you on a payment plan. If those accounts on your reports are showing a balance, they are factored into your utilization and suppressing your scores. If you can get them settled they will report 0 and stop factoring in. It's important to not let them go to collections or charge off status. Also check the statute of limitations in your state. Cap One could sue you if you're still inside of it. I would reach out to them and see what they are willing to do. After you get them settled and reporting 0, start a goodwill campaign to try and have the lates removed. Good luck.
I was looking into what the reply above you said and I have my annual reports now. Sorry if im confusing you guys thats not my intention. On CK app it says 0 derogatory marks so thats why I said that. When I look at the reports I made like 2 payments, then went late then payed again then was late and they were charged off. Its not counting as a part of my credit utilization if that helps you guys. I read online that I can ask they remove charge offs, is this right? I guess I would do that then start the gw letters for late payments? I have talked to capital one and they said they would settle the $140 debt for 50%. Im willing to pay I just want to make sure im doing the right things first
I appreciate the link to the annual reports. I did end up pulling them up just now, see my other reply for more details. Again I appreciate you guys and your responses
Ignore Credit Karma for one. The annual reports is the most accurate. If it doesnt say CO. Pay it soon so they dont add it. And no Cap1 isnt know to do GW PFD's on lates. A rare one will pop up here and there.
