Hi Everyone,
I opened an account in 2018 with Victoria Secret which is owned by Comenity Bank. I was let go from my job and the account eneded up going to collections. The collection was sold to Dynamic Recovery Services, I recently paid collection in full BUT its still listed on my credit report. I attempted to do a PFD (the collection company said they don't do it). I plan on getting a mortgage soon and fear this may hinder my chances. What are my options? This whole thing is new to me.
Thanks in advance,
Peace.
Paying it off stopped it from consistently updating, which dings scores, so now your scores improve over time. Some LO and UW won't care when account is resolved. Account will show 0.
Since CA says they don't PFD, that cO will show for 7 years from DOFD.
If Comenity is also reporting along with CA, GW letters to Comenity might remove account on their end. They aren't obligated to do so, and account would still show from CA.
How to prepare a GW letter can be found here.

Unfortunately, since they did not agree to PFD and you paid it, there is little recourse at this point to remove it.
As mentioned abive, I would definitely attempt GW technique with Comenity.
It also cannot hurt to work your way up the chain (supervisor/manager/etc), but when it comes to PFD or any deletion of a CA, and unless it is their explicit policy, I find frontline CSRs fairly useless. You need to speak to higher-ups with the CA and beg/plead to remove it. Perhaps even try GW technique with them if you get nowhere on the phone. Sometimes since the account is paid, they are willing to "let it go", per se.
As others have said, unfortunately once paid, there's no leverage and so your only recourse is to try for GW removal.
