I recently started rebuilding my personal credit after 5 years of having no open accounts. First thing I did was join a credit union and open a secured card and 2 year secured installment loan(1,000 Each). I applied with dcu for a secured card based on a couple recommendations on this and another forum but all I ended up with were 2 inquiries and 2 denial letters. 1 for the secured card the other for the membership.
I also have a couple positive closed accounts. Two Amex cards for 20,000 and 2,000. 3 mortgages paid, mostly from old refis. 2 other closed credit cards. All these accounts are positive with no lates.
