Removing Old Addresses and Names

Good afternoon all, I am writing this message to inform of an option for rebuilding if it applies to you. I called experian to find out my DOFD's,my credit tracker is not showing them.  I spoke with an account representative in the dispute department who gave me the info i needed . Then i spoke with her regarding all the different name variations and addresses which were incorrect or outdated.  She removed the names and addresses which were not linked to any accounts, I only mentioned ones I knew were not on any collections anymore because they are more than ten years old . then there was an address which was right  linked to a wrong social ,which was off by a number which linked to 6 collections , she asked if i wanted to dispute those. but i told her i would wait and verify them. She placed me on a hold and came back and said she could remove the items with the wrong social security number. and that now i will only have two collections on my credit report .  I will try this with eq and TU hopefully with some luck. Good luck to you all if this applies to you and your situation give it  a shot .

Re: Removing Old Addresses and Names

Hi Athena,

To clarify, the CRA removed old names if they weren't connected to any accounts? I ask this because I have a previous married name that I would love to remove from any public record. (I was only married for 6 months and it bugs the crap out of me when I see it lol).

Re: Removing Old Addresses and Names

I was able to get all old addresses removed from both TU and EQ using their online dispute forms. TU was corrected within 2 days and EQ within a week.

Experian was a slightly different animal but I was also able to have all my old addresses removed!

* Uploaded a letter stating the addresses that were invalid. No mention of fraud or identity theft, just invalid.

* Included a copy of my credit report with my current and one former address circled as valid. I haven't been at my current residence for more than 2 years.

I received an e-mail from Credit Karma that a fraud alert had been posted to my TU account. Called TU to have removed and they stated that it had been pushed to them from EX. I think went to check CCT for my Experian report and noticed that my previous address was now listed as current (D'oh!). Called EX and it looks like they removed all the addresses I flagged as invalid but inadvertently deleted my current address in the process! They also put a fraud alert on my report without asking. I had to provide a copy of my driver's license and a recent utility bill but got my current address put back on and the fraud alert removed.

I was worried getting old addresses off of EX was going to be a nightmare based on previous forum posts.  Looks like I got lucky with this one.  I would recommend anyone looking to clean up their personal information try the experian upload option.
