Quizzle tells me the low balance paid down toward my student loans in relation to their original balances is too low and thus adversly affecting my score.
I currently have 5 Installment (all student loan accounts) and 8 Revolving (CC) accounts, and that's it. All 5 installments are older than my oldest revolving (CC) acct. My question is this, if I paid off 1 of the 5 (one has only a $320 balance), leaving only 4 installment accounts, may that actually negatively affect my score? I am thinking it would lower my AAOA? Also, I saw in another post that there may be a negative with a higher ratio of revolving to installment accounts? Is that true?
Thanks in advance for any insight. ![]()
quizzle, credit karma, credit sesame, are all fakos and what i surmise is that when they say something is affecting you negatively it is only based on their scoring method and not fico. a positive tl that is closed will remain on your cr for ten years and contribute to your aaoa for that time. paying them off will have no negative affect on fico score.
Thanks. I will pay that small balance off then. I do have a positive TL, a car loan that was opened in 2001 and closed in June 2004. Does that mean that this June 2014, I can expect that 10 year TL to drop? That will tank my AAOA. The next oldest thing I have is my 2005 student loan.
you may see a dip from that falling off but i wouldnt think it would be drastic. fico has so many algorithims its tuff to say.
