Rolling right along until...

I have been working hard to improve my credit and increase my score. Just recently, I was hit with a 16 point decrease to my Equifax score because of my student loans updating (according to SW). Now today, I was alerted to check my account on Privacy Guard. Wouldnt you know, a new delinquent account was added. It is an old light bill from First Grid for $368.00. I had completely forgotten about this bill. Right now, PG says it has only posted to my EX report. What I want to know is how badly can this new delinquent account hurt me? I was actually hoping for an increase in my EQ and TU score because I recently paid a medical collection and am disputing a reported balance on a judgment that reports on EQ. Neither have updated as of yet. Also, I have a few inquiries that will be falling off, about 8.

Re: Rolling right along until...

Is the new delinquency being reported simply as an OC account delinquency, or as a new CA?

Big difference in how to deal with it.

Re: Rolling right along until...

It seems to be reported as an OC account deliquency. No CA has it yet. And on top of that, I rcvd another SW alert. My score decreased another 2 points!!! I DV a judgment that has been paid because I want it to reflect the fact that the balance is now $0.00 but it still reports a balance. The only thing that changed was the verification date! It now says verified 6/1/2009. This is definitely incorrect because I just mailed the letter to EQ 2 weeks ago. How can they put a verification date of 6/1/2009 when the account wasn't disputed yet? Not to mention, it still reports a balance.

Re: Rolling right along until...

Now, I am even more confused. I received a letter on Saturday from the OC of a medical debt I paid. The letter was actually a copy of a letter the CA sent to the 3 CRAs. A request was made to delete the file and any reference to the OC and CA from my file. The letter is date 6/19 but as of yet, no CRA has deleted the account. On another note, the DV I sent for a judgment came back as being verified according to the SW alert I received on 6/25, and as a result, my score dropped to 587. However, in the mail today, I get a letter from EQ stating the results of their reinvestigation has led them to delete the judgment!!! The letter is dated 6/24 but still no score change. I pulled my report from Privacy Guard and it shows the judgment deleted but the medical collection is still listed. I'm not planning to pull my EQ report from myFico until about Friday. I'm just wondering why I havent had a score change since the judgment was deleted...

Re: Rolling right along until...

When the CA sends a letter to the CRAs it can taken anywhere from 15-60 days to update on your report from my experience.  Just be patient, if it isn't off in 60 days then dispute with the CRAs

Re: Rolling right along until...

How old was the deleted judgement? Do you have any other judgements on your reports? BKs? 90/120 day lates, recent 30 or 60 day lates... basically it depends if that was your worst delinquency or if there are others that the formulas count as just as bad anything else new been added in the place of the judgement, are your balances higher or lower than they were when you got your last score? Have any of your credit limits dropped? Have any positive accounts been removed... etc etc... if there are others then you may not see much (or any) real change in score...

Re: Rolling right along until...

The judgment was about 3 yrs old. My car payment had a few 30-60-120 day lates but the last late was Aug 2008. Other than the med collection that I am waiting to be deleted no other baddies exist on my EQ.

Re: Rolling right along until...

So, I got a SW alert today and found my score increased by 12 pts. Ok, I guess but I am not ecstatic. I was expecting to at least get back my score of 605. Funny though, because the SW alert stated my student loans were the cause of the increase. They were supposedly updated and put back on deferred status (which the last update to repayment status caused them to drop) so I was hoping that I would be able to recover some lost ground. However, my call to EQ informed me that my collection account had been deleted. I just don't get how these scores work. I had an 3 yr old judgment and a yr old collection removed and all I get is a measly 12 point increase? Why wouldnt my score go back to what it was, 605? My cc UTI is high, 90% but it is somewhat lower than what it was when my last report was pulled. Maybe I should try and GW my late cc payment from 8 months ago and my late car payment? I'm really working hard to improve my scores but this little increase has me feeling like it is all in vain... Advice someone?
