I have a self-lender loan for $500 that will be done next month. I see the secured visa they offer that I can put that amount onto it. I currently have two CC's ($200 secured citi & $300 non-secured Indigo.)
I was wondering if by doing the self-lender card, with no hard inquiry, if would give me a boost on scores.
Currently sitting at Eq-551, Tr-582, Ex-585.
Both collection are all paid (hopefully MCM will remove this year), my 2 CO accounts will be 3 years old this year (both 7/20.)
So I know right now my main thing is just letting things age, and not getting hit the hard inquiries, and not letting anything bad hit my credit, like lates. (No outstanding debts so no charge off/or collections risk)
How long ago did you get the 2 cards? And the time between both approvals. Wanna make sure it isnt too fast too soon.
I recieved my Citi card in November 2018, and Indigo card October 2019.
My MCM collection hasn't reported fully paid, waiting on it to show, paid it in late Dec. 2019.
I was doing well and in the very low 600's, but I had switched all my banking to a new bank, put everything on autopay, and didn't realize I hadn't updated my self lender account, so I just got hit with a 30 day late in September 2019.
I don't have many credit accounts. Self Lender, another installment account for $8,000, and the two CC's I currently have.
Utilization is at 28% with both cards, which I will paying the one with a $40 balance this weekend, and the other card paid down to just a few dollars. I am learning about the AZEO method, and going to try it.
Also my Self Lender and other installment loans were opened February 2019. Incase that matters also.
If you were going to do a secured card, I would go for Opensky. Yeah, it kinda sucks but it serves it purpose. But it doesnt do a credit pull. So no additional inq. I got mine in Dec. and it reported on my report within a week or two. It may have been when I got it too, just made the reporting wire.
