I just settled with both Cavalry and LVNV/Resurgent for less than the original requested amount on 7/24/14. I got a zero balance letter from Resurgent saying the date paid was like 3/17/2011 and my balance is $0.00. The letter from Cavalry says I paid an amount about $54 more than I actually paid and a $0.00 balance. Is there some way to use these mistakes to dispute and remove these collections and maybe even the OC?

You might be able to dispute if the CA is reporting inaccurate info but you cannot do anything with those letters against the OC as they are not the one who made the settlement deal. You can GW the OC to see about getting them removed. I would not use those letters in a dispute especially if one of them is giving you a payoff 3 years ago...

Thank you for the response! I figured that the OC was out of the picture in this regard but thought I'd put it out there. As for the date being three years ago and them reporting I just paid it off wouldn't it be best to dispute the CRA and show them there is a discrepancy in what is being reported to see if they will delete it? Or just let it be paid and move on...?

Wait and see how they report it, then you might be able to dispute with the CRAs. I dont think it would result in a deletion, if they do report a payoff in 2011 I think I would just let it be for now and move on to GW letters trying to get them to remove the TL.
