Settling with Portfolio Recovery Associates

My Citibank credit card was sold to Portfolio Recovery Associates. I disputed with PRA within 30 days of getting notice and they never replied. That was in October. Today (December 28) they are reporting on my credit.

I am closing on a home in March. THIS CANT BE ON MY CREDIT. I need help.

The debt is 15k, the only portal wants 11k to settle.

I really don't have more than 5k for this unexpected expense so close to closing.

What can do I or negotiate for?

TLDR: How much can I settle a fresh debt from PRA for? What tactics should I use?

Sounds like you need to negotiate pay for delete. Hopefuly, someone with pra experience will advise you.

My big concern would be being sued. How old is the debt? What is the sol in your state?

You might post on the mortgage board for specific advice regarding mortgage impact.

Re: Settling with Portfolio Recovery Associates

Fortunately, PRA says on their website they delete after payment.

Unfortunately, the debt is well within SOL and it's only 2 years old.
