Should I call and ask for a settlement or Paid In Full or Write a letter

I have a valid debt that was sent to a collection agency but they never reported it to my credit report.  I have made payments to the collection agency without any issues for about a year now.  The orginal bill was $2111.00 and I have paid a total of $1000.00.  I was wondering if I could call them and ask if we could agree that the debt has been paid in full at this point?  They have always offered me a settlement agreement for half of the current balance.  I could never do it upfront so I opted to pay on it monthly.  but with 50% of it being paid now is it dumb of me to call and say can we consider it as paid in full?

also, although the CA is not reporting it, it is showing on my credit report from the OC as a charge off for the full amount of the car loan.  the only part that was charged off was the $2111.  Is that right? should I try to get that fixed?
This is a weird circumstance where I had a car that was wrecked and the insurance paid out $6000 but the $2111 was the remainder of the loan that wasn't covered in the insurance payout.

The $2111 is the remaining balance...they must have paid you...the blue book value...for your car...and that was what was left over...was the accident your fault???...if not...I would sued the other person...for the remaining balance...plus repay...what I already paid...since you already have dealings with the CA...you can try to call...and see if they will call it quits...and NOT report to the CRAs...but if you just stop paying...REMEMBER...you have reset SOL...and they CAN sue you for the remaining balance...so make sure...ANY agreement is well understood....and in writing...does he OC balance have the balance $0....or written off...does the CA own the account...or are assigned to collect the debt...
