Today I decided to take a peek at my TC acct to see if anything new popped up. I try not to check it more than once a week in an attempt to cut down on my recently acquired credit tracking obsession lol. There were 2 alerts dated Sept 21st and 22nd for changes on my EX report. Neither of them make sense to me.
The first one is for Amex. The alert says it's for a "major derogatory". I entered the Amex Oasis program earlier this summer. My new acct is reporting correctly as open with a zero balance. The old one is still listed as a paid derogatory and was updated 6/08 when they opened the new Optima Acct, which they backdated to my original opening date on the old Amex.
The second is for a small non CC collection. This alert also says "major derogatory". The acct was opened in 5/2005 and last updated 8/2005.
Both of these alerts say "A derogatory account has appeared on your credit report." Since the Amex has been there since 2003 and the other acct since 2005, and neither are showing recent updates, why are they sending me alerts now as if they just popped up? Is this just very weird TC reporting or have their alerts actually beat the updates? If they are about to be updated, why is Amex still updating my old paid acct when they've opened a new acct for me? If that's going to be a regular event, then I'm deeply regretting agreeing to the Oasis program. It was my understanding at the time that the old acct would be removed and replaced by the new Optima.
I haven't disputed either of these accts, nor have I contacted anyone and no one has contacted me. I haven't received any alerts of my score going down yet, but now I'll be looking over my shoulder all week waiting for them...heavy sigh.
