Spectrum / CBE Group

Hi. Hope everyone is well. Back in Apr 2020 I called spectrum to cancel my serivce as I wouldn't be staying there for the next 8 months. Fastfoward 8 months I try to sign up for spectrum again as it's the only option in this city. I wasn't allowed too via their website. It requested me to call in. I called in and was told I needed to send in my equipment within in 30 days. I said ok -- they set me up again and shipped me new equipment within a couple days. Not even two weeks passed when I got hit on all three credit scores -42 points. CBE Group $120 for the equipment. I dropped off the equipment to spectrum in person and requested a receipt. On my myfico app it says "status - paid collection" now. What's the next step here? How can I erase this? What could be done? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

You cancelled the service 8 months ago but didn't return the equipment at that time?
