If the CA owns the debt the OC cannot take payment.
The only time the OC can take payment is if they still own the account and it is only assigned to the CA.
Okay, that is what I thought and this is what the OP was talking about. Sprint is willing to accept payment for the debt, so the CA should be removed correct?
And this is the opposite of what Shellie has mentioned has happened to her. That she paid the OC but the CAs would not remove.
Starting Score: TU 629 6/2013No, the CA does not have to delete, only update to paid.
It is exactly what Shellie has had happen. She paid the OC and the CA updated to paid.
I see. You are much wiser in credit knowledge. I thought if OC was accepting payment that the debt would be recalled and that CAs did not have any right to report. Even if reported PIF. Thank you for clarifying this info.
I guess I have just been lucky as to having 3 CAs stop reporting after paying the OCs, and without having to do much work accept provide proof of payment.
Starting Score: TU 629 6/2013Since the CA is the one reporting, I would at call them and just ask the general question if they are open to pay for deletes.
Well keep us posted because I'm curious. I payed Sprint directly and Asset Acceptance stopped reporting without me even having to GW. Sprint told me if I payed them that the CA would not report anymore. Whether that was them basically saying they would recall the debt, or them just telling me what I wanted to hear and they did not necessarily know if the CA would stop or not... I am not sure. Either way, worked out good for me! And I hope that it goes in your favor as it did in mine.
Starting Score: TU 629 6/2013Ok a little weird! I was typing up my PFD letter and when I went to go put the address on it this is what I notice.. on my EQ credit report that i pulled in January has Portfolio something blah blah listed as the credit agency and their address, then I have a letter I receieved from Diversified adjustements the same month actually i think their only a couple of days away with the dates & then when i talked to sprint they were willing to accept the payment. So they've assigned TWO different CA for this?!? Anyway I printed two out anyway with one to Portfolio and one to Diversified. Is it smart to send the PFDs to both? I'm a little worried I know people say go by whats on your credit report but why did i receive a letter from diversified too, they arn't reporting as of right now....!
