Stuck in a plateau!

I have been rebuilding my credit for around 3 years now. I cannot get my score above 640 if my life depends on it. I do have 4 closed charge offs that dateback to 2013/14. I had some removed, but a few straglers won't remove. I have a 100% on time payment for 3 years on cap 1 secured card, and 100% on a installment mattress loan (50% usage). I have been denied on a cap 1 unsecured (apparently 3 years of on time payments means nothing to them). what can I do to continue raising my score? it just hovers around 615-640 for over a year now. Should I get another secured card? Maybe Discover? I pay all my bills on time and have a good income, but I still can't get credit because my score just hovers. I am also an AU on an AMEX BCE card (98% utilization) 2 years credit age. Should I get that AU account removed or leave it be?

Re: Stuck in a plateau!

With four collection and a card at 98% utilization your scores will be low until these are addressed. If you can not goodwill the collections off of your reports at least remove yourself from the AU account you could see a 20 point or better bump if your other cards are at zero with only one reporting a balance under 30%.

Re: Stuck in a plateau!

Try to get the utilization on the Amex Down and some charge offs removed. Try a goodwill letter... Honestly the utilization is a killer, I wouldnt open any new accounts just yet. Good Luck
