TransUnion Direct Dispute Error

Submitted a dispute on Jan 14, 2018, and received a notice that it was closed today. This was through CreditKarma, and the result message states; "Your dispute couldn't be completed because of a technical issue. The quickest option is try to submit the dispute again. But if the problem continues, you can try contacting TransUnion directly."

So when I try to submit the dispute again, I get this error message " It looks like we're unable to submit your request online. But you can still make a dispute request with TransUnion by mailing them this form or by calling them at 1-800-916-8800."

So from here I tried to make a TransUnion account, and it got flagged stating they could not verify my identity. All the information provided was accurate and matches my current credit report for them. This is the error message from them, "We are unable to confirm your identity with the information provided."

Anyone else experiencing something similar?

Re: TransUnion Direct Dispute Error

Well i have the same thing but it's because if you dispute with them too many times they flag you and your account gets handled by the "fraud" team at Transunion and then you can't use the online dispute anymore.

Re: TransUnion Direct Dispute Error

Gotcha, so this is the 3rd dispute with them on record. Guess that is the unlucky number.

It's possible that your information matches; yet, Transunion has been known to inexplicably lock consumers out for accessing their report multiple times within a short period of time. - Even if it seems to stem from a system glitch, trying to access your report to submit a dispute more than once in a single day is a classic Transunion lockout issue. Of course, it's possible that their system was just down.

Nevertheless, either way, you can call them during business hours, and ask to speak to their Special Handling department; and they can verify you, and then remove any online blocks.

Re: TransUnion Direct Dispute Error

Disputing online is a great way to ruin the dispute process.  Not only do you give them 50% more time to verify, but you don't even get the right dispute reasons in their "pick a reason" list.

Stop doing disputes online, do them the correct way -- USPS CMRRR, to show them you're serious.

Re: TransUnion Direct Dispute Error

Kind of hard to do a CMRRR right now, as I'm currently stationed overseas. Trying to get this cleared off before I return, so I can get my mortgage score straightened out.

Re: TransUnion Direct Dispute Error

Or perhaps I'm looking at this the wrong way.... Why does mailing in the request allow them 50% less time for the investigation? If I'm able to mail out the letter USPS CMRRR via the APO (Army Post Office), which is the same as USPS, but on base, it will take ~2 weeks for them to receive. Does the time start from the date of mailing? If so that should give me an even better chance... I tried looking up a thread, but came short on the timeline.

Re: TransUnion Direct Dispute Error

Pretty sure time starts from date of reciept. You can fax a dispute to them. Problem is, you won't recieve confirmation that a person is working on it. I did it for a couple of minor issues and it worked out fine. But I would have been anxious had it been a major issue, not knowing if it had actually made it into someone's hands. I guess you could always call to confirm receipt.

Fax: Complete the dispute request form and fax your request to:
