Transworld System INC will not accept pay for deletion

I have an old utility bill (PEPCO) $501.00 that went to Transworld System INC collection about a year ago. They reported the debt to all 3 credit bureaus. I sent a letter and called them to do a FULL pay for deletion. Transworld System refused after speaking to a supervisor. I found out that they did not purchase the debt and they stated that the PEPCO authorize them to accept a settlement of $375 which would show on my credit report as debt settled. I would like the debt removed upon paying it. My question is should I pay PEPCO directly and then dispute the debt after its paid to the 3-credit bureau.

No, you need to call PEPCO and have them recall the collector in exchange for payment other wise its going to be on your CR if you cannot get a GW deletion from the collector.

Thank You for your speedy response, I tried calling and speaking to a supervisor and they keep telling me I have to negotiate with the collection company. I am going to write a letter hopefully that will work.
