Hi All,
First, thanks to Tuscani and Hauling for everything -- I have learned so much here in the forums. You are turning lives around. I lost my job in April and started interviewing but realized after 10 years at one place credit review for employment is now different. 1 collection with Best Services, paid but they are trying to collect charges and fees, I have hired a lawyer and am ready to do battle after all this is my life - no job, car paid for, no issue with house. Scores in high 500s but I need to get over the hump. Paid tax lien. 2 Accounts w/ Cap One charging interest of 200 a month, but when I call they will not acknowledge that I the account exists yet they continue charges. I know the Pres. of Cap One banking and wrote her but nothing after a week. The other is Best Services - paid collection, they are still charging interest. Aren't they breaking FCRA state and federal? I am in Calif. Anyway I need to work and have to get my report in the best shape possible and have a lawyer write a note before background check - remember I am in banking. I so appreciate any advice you have.
Hi and thanks for responding. Yes I do - I am trying to matrix all. My main concern is Cap One - I have called every number from these forums that has been suggested but Cap One can't find my account but on all credit reports, the Salt Lake City is listed. I have followed FCRA here and tried to force CRAS to provide accurate phone number and address but nothing so I have hired a lawyer - [edited! - Please do not post personal information about yourself or another person, including full names, in the forums] (case heavy though) and hopefully [edited!] to help. Cap One people -- are impossible - boggles the mind. I am going completely by the book here and paying off and getting everything down to utilization of less than 10% - which is what [edited!] recommended. Funny I never read that in any other book.
In another week I am going to get a secured card with Navy Federal where I am a member and CD to help gain a profile there. I have also had difficulty getting TransUnion and Equifax to be consistent in reporting credit limits (auto loan which I am just paying off next week - $30,652 borrowed in 2002 to $0)
- How much does NOT reporting a credit limit impact your score?
- How can I get Cap One to respond? There are enough cases to reference certainly.
- Orchard Bank $0
- First Premier $0
- AMEX - from years and years ago - don't touch it - $0 - since 1998
- State Dept. FCU Auto Loan - $461.00 from $30,652 - 6 lates
- State Dept FCU Money Line - $1,700 - maximum on Line - $7,000.00 - 3 lates since 2002
- State Dept FCU MasterCard/State Dept. Closed it after a 3rd late, I am trying desparately to get them to reopn - by writing to all Board Members, showing them my interview schedule for jobs etc. and my matrix on next steps for credit improvement. I have been a member since 1990 so I hope that appeal helps. $6,750 - $800.00 to go have not missed any payments even though it is closed since they closed it in 2004 - opened in 2002.
So now I know and I am absolutely vigilant about this.

My daughter has this SAME problem! No one could find any info on her account. She was fianlly transferred to (Cap1: 800-258-9319 (Debt Recovery). This lady had no problem finding her old account. They just sent her the info on it so she can pay it off.
Hope it helps you as well.
