I sent a DV to Midland about an old T-Mobile Account.
I got a response letter from them this afternoon asking me for any supporting documentation to help with the investigation.
In the meantime, they are listing the account as "Disputed" with the CRAs.
What is the appropriate response here? The burden is on the them to prove the debt it mine, right?
Thanks!

Absolutely nothing, do not send them anything else until they properly validate the debt.
Thanks!
I will wait and see what they say after their "investigation".
They want you to do their job for them. IDIOTS! I'm guessing if you follow through with this it will get deleted, as from the sounds of it, they can't validate. (Don't talk to them on the phone....all in writing.....keep a paper trail on this one).
Thanks, Booner. So am I proceeding in the right way by not responding for now?
Or do you think that I need to follow through right away?
This is one of my last collections and it is being reported on all 3 CRs so a removal would be great.
Thanks again.
Midland is just stalling. I wouldn't do anything else. Even if they take their sweet time validating (BTW unless you live in Texas a CA has no time limit to answer a DV letter) they have to stop collection efforts until and if they do respond.
Now they might sell it to another CA if they can't validate. You might watch for that.
From a BK years ago to:
EX - 3/11 pulled by lender- 835, EQ - 2/11-816, TU - 2/11-782
"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem".
Thanks, MarineVietVet.
I live in NJ, so I'm syre they will take their sweet time. If they sell it to another CA I guess I just have to DV again.
In the meantime, I will just wait and see what the outcome is.
Thanks again everyone.
**UPDATE**
Well that was fast. I got a scorewatch alert email today, so I checked it when I got home and Midland is gone from my EQ report. I will wait a bit to check EX and TU, but I am very happy. Hopefully it doesn't pop back up at another CA in the future.
My biggest score jump yet: 29 points!
Edit: The score jump is also due to a Medical Collection being PFD'ed (Apex Asset Management).
Thanks everyone!! Im making progress.
NNNIIIICCCEEEEE!!!
Well, I'm pissed. MCM is now back on my reports and I received a letter today stating that I "did not provide sufficient information to investigate the credit reporting of the above referenced account"
They sent me NOTHING to validate the debt, they have now asked that I do their job for them 2 times. There is no way this is right..
What do I do?
