@gloverkevin wrote:Maybe I am bias but I have:
US Bank Smartly Checking (NO FEES)
US Bank Standard Savings
US Bank Business Checking (For my LLC)
US Bank Cash+ ($500) Secured
US Bank Altitude Go ($300) Secured
I use the Cash + for Gym/Cellphone mainly with the 5%
Altitude is my dinging out card at 4X points
I use Kwik Star credit card for gas 3c off gallon better than both my US Bank cards
Target Card 5% off groceries
This is my go to card selection right now, not the best, but better than using a debit card hahaha.
I love their products and my local branch treats me very well, they even gave me a gift bag with a sweatshirt, pen, sunglasses. Maybe my experience was amazing, and I hate to see other people have bad ones, but their credit cards are on par with AMEX and CHASE. I have secured cards for mine, but they will graduate next year as long as I keep a good track record with them. Do the same, don't mess these cards up.
@gloverkevin I hear good things about U.S. Bank this adds to that. Thank you.
For sure! They fly under the radar a lot, because Chase, Captial One, Discover and Amex are the common ones, but their regular tier credit cards, travel, and business compete very well against the competition. The CONNECT and RESERVE cards are very interesting, I would get them once my FICO increases! https://www.usbank.com/credit-cards.html I switched from Sofi to US Bank back in Febuary, and have been loving them since. Yes I don't get my paycheck on Thursday, like the prepaid banks, but the one day difference is worth the added perks.

@Jeffster1 Do you know if they do another Hard Pull if you add an additional deposit to the card?
@butterpecan My understanding is that they do a HP if you're adding money to the secured card.

Another good feature of USBank is that they have the ability to create or replace a debit card in-branch. My closest branch is in my local Ralph's supermarket about a mile away from my home. When I opened my checking and savings with USBank, they gave me my new debit card at the same time. And all with a smile.

@Jeffster1 Thanks, that's what I thought as it is also a HP to add to the BCU secured card so I wondered how a bank vs a credit union would be although they are all different. I applied for a secured U.S. Bank credit card Friday and got the 7-10 day response so we shall see.

@Jeffster1 That is a feature available at NFCU and I was impressed by that. Good to know U.S. Bank has it. I use BofA and to the best of my knowledge they give you a temp card in branch which seems behind in the times being they are one of the top banks in the US.
They always do the 7-10 day response, but it always gets accepted from my experience because it asks you to deposit during the application. Check your bank transactions, if you see money pull in 2-3 days before letter, then your card got accepted. I also applied for the Cash+ before having a US Bank checking, so I don't think they favorite people who have a checking with them prior. I might limit increase but I don't want a hard pull, I'll probably wait until my cards go unsecure, my Cash+ is. March 2024, and Altitude Go is June 2024, it'll be here before I know it. I am excited to see what limits they give me. $800 back in my pocket too. If they have me like $1000 per card I would be more than happy,

@gloverkevin Oh that's good to know on the 7-10. I have watched my BofA account for any signs of withdrawal. So you got 1 card then the 2nd one three months later? That's great, congrats! For the most part I think I have read they unsecure at 12 months and even some posts stated longer if your score was below 650. I'm not sure how true that is or isn't. Hopefully I get the card either way and I will worry about that down the road. They have cards all over this forum in everyone's signature lines must be a reason.
I did a lot of research into US Bank before applying since there isn't a re-approval, but I hear they are really lenient with approvals for secured cards. I don't doubt they want people to come into their eco system, thus why I have everything in house with them. Maybe other US Bank branches have had bad experiences, but for me, I have had none at all. When I had Wells Fargo, and Chase I felt like they didn't want to help with giving me guidance or understanding about my credit. I liked their services, but it felt like the people working their were reading a script. I do know the underwriting for Chase isn't even a part of the bank itself so ideally you wouldn't even have to deal with the bank people if you wanted a card. This is just me rambling, but I love US Bank, they have done a lot for me, and I don't see myself leaving anytime soon. 99% of their cards are $0 annual, the Smartly checking is no monthly fee, and the app is amazing. I know people are credit union bias, but not all credit unions are good, I've had my fair share of low performing credit unions, just as their are low performing mega banks. I also added my cards to my sig finally lol, I just learned how to do it. Minus my Chime credit builder which I don't use anymore, these are my 3 main cards. I like the Kwik Star/Trip card, it was easy to get approved it's $300 limit, but can increase in 6 months, not a secured card. 3c off per gallon, and can stack with in house rewards like the 15 visit for 5c off gallon. I get more gas rewards with this card than both my US Bank cards.

@gloverkevin I wasn't sure about them being lenient with secured cards I had mixed ideas over it because I see others say they are inquiry and new account sensitive. Cool on the signatures I just did mine last week, it's a little pick-me-up by having them there as a reminder of what you've accomplished. Congrats on your 3 cards. I've never heard of your Kwik Star card but that's a good deal!
I really wanted to see the app for checking but it won't let me because I'm not an account holder. I've been spoiled by BofA app but I do have my curiosities on a few of them (their apps too): Chase, WF and US.
