Ugh! Score PLUMMETED

Wow,

so I get the "dreaded" SW alert this morning. I say dreaded because those of you who read my thread yesterday know that I had an incomplete EQ credit report showing (had 2 separate EQ reports and only 1 was reporting and yesterday she merged them together).

It's worse than I thought. 77 point drop. Wow! Even with my positive TL's (revolving) added the baddies now showing up outweigh it. Also, I have a couple of accounts in dispute because they were either not mine, or they were PFD and I have proof that it was deleted from the other CRA and should be from EQ, but I'm almost certain it wasn't deleted because the difference in their reporting last name, and my last name on the file.

After all that stinking hard work.  And, I have an appt tomorrow to look at a new rental, but I may as well cancel that because they require a score that was only 8 points higher than my previous score which is well above what I have currently.  Well, I guess the good news is that it can pretty much only go up from here. I have the right tools and knowledge, I just have to roll up my sleeves and go back into the trenches.

Do accounts in dispute negatively affect the EQ Fico Score that we get in SW?

During a dispute, CAs and PRs are scored normally as they always are. OC accounts are treated a bit differently. Specific components are not scored like the balance, CL and the payment history, but all others like the mix and length of history are scored. After the dispute concludes, there are times that a CA or OC will update in a way to cause a score change (e.g. added lates, status change, comments change, etc.). YMMV based on the update, if any.

Experian uses a different method it's hard to delete addresses if a creditor reports it.... For example I have a hospital address as my address and they won't delete... I flipped out at them

Re: Ugh! Score PLUMMETED

Once you get clean file send the documentation I stated earlier.  Call credit agencies if need be and correct name and address then letter to cras that this is not name address etc. the FCRA is still THe FCRA they are not above it.  You must do the steps yes tedios laboring a little costly RRR CL but so worth it in the long run... not a sprint a marathon

Great advice.  There is truth to the saying, "You catch more flies with honey than vinegar."  Flipping out, or even getting angry, raising your voice, or whatever with a CSR is absolutely not going to make them inclined to help you any more than they are required (if that).  I spent years in call centers.  I went out of my way to help people that were calm, polite, and had a legitimate issue.  If you were entitled, mean, angry, etc, I would give you the bare minimum of service.

There is a difference with stating your expected results and why you expect it in a calm manner, and making demands.  Learn this art, and you will have way more success on the phone.  I am sure I sound like a braggart, but because of my call center experience, I get a lot of things that aren't standard policy when I call customer service.  Try your best, if the person you are speaking to can't help, work your way up the chain until someone can.  Always be polite.  Thank the supervisor for taking the time to listen to your concerns, etc.

Marine, thanks for the info. The accts that were disputed were OC accounts. I haven't disputed through the CRA's previously, but I only did because they were accounts that had been paid and I had documentation that they submitted the request to the CRA's for removal.

Thanks for the suggestion Annie. The only problem with sending in my DL is that it includes my ENTIRE name (first, middle1, middle2, last1, last2) and my current creditors only use first and last2 so that's where the issue is coming from. I will probably just update with the creditors, or either just not use my DL for verification (if possible).

Wow, that's terrible that you can't get a clearly inaccurate address removed. Good luck with the tips that you've been given.

Also Jimbo, good advice on dealing with CSR's!
