VZW & BCR Collection

Okay, so here's my newest question (I seem to have quite a few today). I have a collection from VZW. I DV'd them, and they came back with proper information. I then tried a PFD, which they declined. I have now received a letter from BCR, which I've read a bit about on here. Some have said they've DV'd them, and BCR folds. If they're not reporting yet, should I wait until they report to EQ before I DV or PFD them? And if/when BCR reports, does that mean VZW's will disappear? Not sure how that works. Thanks.

Mike

If they're not reporting yet, should I wait until they report to EQ before I DV or PFD them?  You dont have to wait  before sending a DV letter.

IMO, I would send a DV now as long as you have the funds to pay, that way you dont have to ask them to delete, just ask to agree to not report.

And if/when BCR reports, does that mean VZW's will disappear? no,  VZW can continue to report as long as it reports a $0 balance.

Re: VZW & BCR Collection

Hmmm... alright. I think I'm gonna try to PFD VZW again... the first time I did it, I tried doing it for half the amount -- no wonder they denied it. I'll just try a PFD for the entire amount, and hope they bite. I'd rather not deal with BCR, especially if VZW can still report after I deal with them...

Re: VZW & BCR Collection

IMO, I would check first if VZW still owns the debt.

VZW may have sold the debt to BCR, then  I'm sorry but you would have to deal with BCR.

Re: VZW & BCR Collection

How do I find out who actually owns the debt? It's still reported with EQ by VZW, which is who I first received letters from. Now they're coming from BCR.

Re: VZW & BCR Collection

On your CR, does it show Verizon with a zero balance?  if it does, then they have sold it.  If Verizon still reports a balance due, they still own it and have just assigned it for collections.

Re: VZW & BCR Collection

Ah, okay. Yea, it's still showing Verizon... but the letters from BCR are probably too recent to know exactly who still has it. Another question regarding this account...

Date Opened: 12/2006
Date Reported: 01/2011
Date Major Delinquency First Reported: 11/2010
Date of First Delinquency: 12/2009

Now, with that above information, in my 81-month payment history, it shows perfect from 12/06 - 6/08, but then starting 07/08, says CA all the way through 12/10. Doesn't seem to make sense to me...
