I noticed on a lot of other threads that people had difficulties getting Verizon to remove derogatory information from their credit profiles so I wanted to share my success story to hopefully help others out.
Last year I had a final bill that I didn't know show up on my credit report as a collections account for a little over $100. I called them up and disputed some of those charges and they dropped it down to under half that amount which I immediately paid. They then updated my credit report to show as Settled for Less. I had tried to get the collections department to completely remove the tradeline but they refused by trying to say the FCRA forbids it. I opened a complaint with the CFPB and got contacted by someone from their Executive Relations department. He was also refusing to remove it. I emailed him back and told them they violated several sections of the FCRA by having this posted on my credit report. The items I cited as being violations of the FCRA were posting the high balance being higher than the collections rep had me pay, no date of first delinquency reported as required by FCRA 623(a)(5)(a), the fact that I had previously disputed with the CRA and they returned incorrect information FCRA 623(a)(2)(B), not providing notice of furnishing negative information FCRA 623(a)(7)(A)(i), and told them they would be in violation of FCRA 623(a)(1)(B) if they continued to report any information at all to the CRA. I also let them know there are 0 sections in the FCRA that require them to report anything at all, and 0 sections that prohibit deletion.
The Executive Relations guy told me he would forward it to their legal team for review and he came back today and said they are deleting it and they didn't dispute any of the above FCRA sections I mentioned.
Hoping this will boost my score a decent amount because this is the last collections on my report.

Woke up today and the entire tradeline has been already removed. That's the quickest I've ever seen something update on my credit report. Only about a 5 point jump in FICO score though ![]()

I opened a complaint with the consumer finance protection bureau. They then reached out to me.
Thank you for sharing! I tried to get them to PFD but they said they can only update the account to PIF after settling with them. Going to wait for the changes to hit my CR and than follow what you did, thanks again!
