Hi,
So I have a couple of collections that are only appearing on experian. My credit has gone up the last several years, but this is still hurting me. I have 3 from Affirm. 2 of those are very small amounts of $50 and another is $400. They are from about 4 years ago. I could pay but it almost seems like wouldn't really help and still be on my credit report.
My main issue is one from paypal that occurred during the pandemic. Last date of payment is May 2020 and they sold it to Credit Corp Inc. Its 800. I think at one point they mentioned a pay for delete. I can't really afford that right now. I doubt any of these companies do a pay for delete over 2 paymetns right? I want to improve my credit but I also dont want to pay to settle things that won't help at all either.
Second Best Case - Collection reports a Zero balance
Best Case - Pay for Delete
pay off those small $50 ones - get them to Zero right away
pay off the $400 when you can - get it to Zero
Save up $400-$500 and then call Credit Corp and tell them you have $300 to settle the debt right away - if they counter, i would go up until $500 then stop - it's not super old - so you might wait another 6 months then repeat that process all over again
my point is - get them all to Zero - if they Delete them, that is great - but it is more of a bonus than a requirement
good luck to you!

I would definitely call and ask for PFD. The only sure way to not get a PFD is to not ask. If they say no, you can hang up and try another representative. If that fails, just pay them. Paid collections is better than unpaid collections.
some collections agencies do PFD in installments but I'm not sure about that one.
