Who would I PFD?

So I have this closed Newport News account that was closed. I know it will fall off next year since it was closed in '03, but I want it to go away now. It has many many lates on it as over the past 6 years since it closed I haven't really cared too much about it. It was the least of my concerns when it came to paying debt. Now I just want to be rid of it. It was closed with a $1200 balance that I now have down to $390.

I get my statements from Card Processing Center. On the back it has an address for inquiries and such, but it reports listed as Newport News on 2 of my reports and as Newport News/Cm on the 3rd.. There are 2 different addresses for NN between the 3 reports. And on the back of my statement that comes from Card Processing Center it says "Your closed FCNB/Newport News account is now serviced by CMS. CMS is not affiliated with Spiegal or Newport News. The Spiegal and Newport News mark and associated designs are trademarks owned by Spiegal catalog Inc., Spiegal Inc. and or Newport News Inc. CMS is permitted to use these marks under limited license from Spiegal catalog Inc., Spiegal Inc. and or Newport News Inc."

Should I send my PFD directly to the Newport News address or to the Card Processing Center address where I regularly mail my payments? So confused. I should just disregard the whole CMS statement right since I have no clue who they are?

edited to add: I just noticed that of course EX does not list a closed date, but TU shows 8/2002 and EQ shows 3/2003. WTH why different dates? so it will fall off one report in approx 4 months and the other 12?

Re: Who would I PFD?

It will fall off based on DOFD.

EX and TU should have a removal date, EQ should have a DOFD listed. If you have reports directly from the CRA.

The GW/PFD would go to the card issuer. The card processing center just handles payments....a lot of CC places uses this place to process payments for them and do the mailings.

I have all 3 reports directly mailed from the CRAs. none of them list a DOFD nor an estimated removal for any of my negatives except for an auto loan to be removed 6/09.

I will send my letter directly to Newport News then. Thanks!!

Re: Who would I PFD?

From what you posted, the card is issued by FCNB.

WFNNB issues their cards now.

GW/PFD would go to FCNB.

I will look into that. I thought I read somewhere that FCNB went under and all the newport news accounts with FCNB went to this other collection company.

Re: Who would I PFD?

Does anyone out there know if it is possible to contact FCNB? everyting i have googled just comes up as a bank in the midwest or articles regarding them going under. i dont have any of my old statements from when they held the account so I no longer have that address. I have 2 differnt addresses on my CRs-should i just mail a PFD to both? Even though they are not for FCNB?

Re: Who would I PFD?

they are the addresses listed under Newport News on myCR's. I assume for the company that now holds the old FCNB account.

Re: Who would I PFD?

Scorechaser, if the account was closed back in 2003, chances are that the DOFD is probably at least 6 months earlier, and thus back in 2002.  If you have your account records, go back to the first date that the account became delinquent (i.e., 30 days from the due date of the first statement that was delinquent).  Most CCCs wont close an account until it has gone delinquent for at least 60-90 days from the DOFD, so I would look first at the DOFD.

If the OC never charged off the account or placed it for collection, it willl drop from your CR 7 years from the DOFD.  If they did a CO or CA, then it falls off at 7 1/2 years from the same DOFD.

Account closing date is not relevant.

i have been paying on it since it was closed (though i have had lates occur over the years) and it is up to date and current on payments so i dont know what the DOFD would be. i don't even know if it was closed because of me or just because FCNB went belly up. to my knowledge it isnt a CA and it isnt a CO just simply closed. i just wasnt it to go away. i figure i can kill 2 birds with 1 stone by getting a secured loan from my CU to show a loan TL, which i do not have, and PFD this stupid account.

i read in a post around here that closed accounts from an OC fall off 7 years from date closed. thats why i was thinking it would come off soon. but i suppose i read that paragraph wrong the few times i have read it.
