Just wanted to share my experience to whoever it may help.
Apparently when I left college about a year and a half ago, I had some leftover fees directly owed to the college (not student loan/tuition). I wasn't aware of these until I just recently got a notification from a credit monitoring account that a new collection has been placed on my Equifax report by Williams & Fudge.
Long story short, I knew the debt was mine so I was not afraid of admitting liability. Paying it isn't the issue, my focus is cleaning my report and avoiding the delinquency for the next 7 years. I emailed them about the possibility of a PFD and here was their response:
It seems that they are very willing, almost encouraging, to delete their account once it's been paid satisfactorily. So, I paid them, waited until my account with them shows a $0 balance, and just sent a dispute with Equifax to hopefuly expedite this.
As anything happens, I will update with results so anyone else dealing with W&F might be able to follow.
Congrats! If this happens again. Dont dispute something you have in writing. Just be patient and let things update and be removed. Dont poke the bear.
