hmmm.....I need clarification (OC/CA question)

A particularly stubborn CA is reporting on my CR, however, the OC is not on my CR. I've been doing some reading and hope someone can get me straight. As I understand it, I can PIF the OC and then send a DV letter to the CA? Then the CA will be forced to delete the item from my CRs?

Truth be told, I'm not even sure if I owe the money. I did have an account with the OC a few years ago but I don't remember having a balance *shrug* Its possible. The amount is so low that I'll just pay it and move on if I can get the negative item removed. This seems like the easiest way to move on.

So do I have it right?

Whoever is reporting the account on your report is the one you should deal with (sounds like it's a collection company/agency in your case, OC isn't relevant anymore). If you aren't sure about the validity of the debt, send an Debt validation letter to the address of the company listed on the report. If it comes back verified, then offering PIF would be the best route.
