missing green card

i sent 2 DV letters to 2 different CAs in December.  Certified mail shows they were both recieved 2 months ago.  I never recieved the green card bank.  Now what?

You have the receipt that you mailed them DV's to them?

You have the online verification that they received them? Print this out asap!  The website only holds them for a short period of time before they are deleted forever!

I always include the receipt number on my letters.  I pick up a bunch of the green cards and slips from the post office.  At the bottom of each letter, I add, sent Certified Mail Return Receipt xxxx-xxxx....

So the office knows I am not messing around, plus I have another reference, in case something is not returned to me.

You can get the proof of delivery (signature on file) from any USPS-office. In the past, I received a few green cards that had no signature on them at alll and were worthless as proof of delivery and when I disputed at the post office, I either got a printout showing the signature or they arranged to send me a signature by mail - both for free, of course.

Where did you obtain that information from if you don't mind me asking? This is what usps.com says:

"Records are kept in the system for the following time periods:

• Delivery Confirmation service - 6 months
• Signature Confirmation service - 1 year
• Express Mail service, Certified Mail, and Registered Mail - 2 years

Records are archived after 60 days; however, a request to restore a record can be made in as little as a few seconds. The request will then take approximately 2-4 hours (in limited cases up to 24 hours) before the record is available.

Restored records are kept online for 30 days and then archived again. Additional requests can be made to restore the record up to two years past the original shipping date. "

That is great information to have!  The post office has always told me it will only remain available online for 30 days.  In the past, I have gone back to retrieve the record and it was gone.

I still recommend putting the CMRR number in the letter as well.

Thanks for all of the input.  Definately learning a lot.  I logged on to usps website today and this is what I've found.

Your item was accepted at 5:58 pm on December 10, 2008 in SAN ANTONIO, TX 78249. A proof of delivery record may be available through your local Post Office for a fee.

Additional information for this item is stored in files offline.

What are they talking about "for a fee"????

I'm going to go down to the post office later...with my original reciept and see what my options are.

I just realized something....one of these is listed as "accepted" and the other as "delivered"

That means one of them was never delivered!!!  Ugh!
