oh boy...cap 1 success!

Okay, so I have been on the phone alot with Cap 1 today.  Learning more each time I call!  Apparently front-line CSRs can only see 6 months of history, Acct supervisors can only see 1 year, and acct managers can see everything.  They keep records for 7 years and put them on microfiche.  they apparently are fuzzy on their screen, fwiw.  First manager told me he had to pull each month one by one and fax or mail them to me for my review.  So, I called back and got transferred to another manager who told me he didn't see anything past due for 2002 - 2006.  He submitted a request to the CRAs while I was on the phone and said it should be updated in 60-90 days!!!  I still have two 30's that they show and are accurate which will stay (5/07 and 9/07), but it will get rid of 3 30's and 1 60 from TU, 6 30's and 1 60 from EQ, and 7 30's and 1 60 from EX!!!!

It's been a good credit week!!!Smiley Very Happy

Re: oh boy...cap 1 success!

Good news for me with Cap 1 as well. I submitted a GW on 5 May to have one 30 day late with TU/EX and two 30 day/one 90 day/two 120 day lates with EQ, which all occured in 2003, on a now closed/PIF Cap 1 account removed. Not only did they remove them, they updated the account to reflect 0 lates, ever! So that account now reflects as an account in good standing with history that goes back 10 years. Couldn't be happier with that result.

They also deleted a second account I GW'd which had a 30 day late but was only open for six months back in 2003. Again, great result!

Now if I can just get this $31 issue resolved with Shell I think I can get my EQ score into the 670-680 range in no time. By the way, $29 of the $31 past due was a late fee on a $2 dollar balance which I was not aware of when I closed the account....aaarrrgh!!!

Re: oh boy...cap 1 success!

Please Please share the letter you sent to Crap 1 and the name and address of where you sent your GWs to. I have two very similar accounts with them from 2003 that are paid COs. I have tried GW letter to UT address with no response from them. They are 2 of the 3 baddies left on my CR.  Thanks

Re: oh boy...cap 1 success!

I found this letter here on myFICO. Plugged in the specifics of my situation and it appears to have worked.

Re: ACCT# XXXXXXX4997

To Whom It May Concern:

I previously was a holder of a Capital One credit card from Nov 2000-August 2003.    I enjoyed my experience with Capital One and the flexibility the card offered. I am writing to see if you would be willing to make a "goodwill" adjustment to your reporting to the three credit agencies. I had one late payment(actually there were more, but I fibbed) on the above referenced account that dates back to 2002 and the account was paid in full in Aug 2003. Since that time I have been attempting to restore my credit following a very difficult personal and financial period.

Because of my exceptional payment history over the last 4 years with all of my other accounts, I would like you to consider removing the negative payment from my credit report. At the time of the late payments, I was going through a separation from my wife and changing jobs in the military. As soon as I became aware the account was late I paid it and continued to pay until it was paid in full. I say that not to justify why the payments were late, but rather to show that the late payments are not a good indicator of my actual credit worthiness. I hope that Capital One is willing to work with me on erasing this mark from my credit reports.

My experience with Capital One was very positive and I hope to use Capital One in the future. With today’s credit industry so competitive, I know how important it is to maintain good relationships with customers. Capital One  has been exceptional in my book so far and I highly recommend it to all my friends and relatives. I hope that you will seriously consider my request and prove once again, why Capital One is head and shoulders above the rest. I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

More important than the letter is the address and specific person or department you sent your letter to. I have sent 4 GW letters to 2 different addresses and have only received form letters back saying "we always report accurate information blah blah"

Re: oh boy...cap 1 success!

I sent a CMRRR letter to:

Customer Relations Manager
Capital One
P.O. Box 30281
Salt Lake City, UT 84130

The person who signed for the letter was jeff Bridgewater, but for all I know he might be an 18 yr old mail clerk. I didn't receive a letter back from them, but they received my letter on 13 May and the items were updated on all three CRAs on 13 May...yes, I did pull full credit reports with FICOs to confirm the update.

The CRAs are making a fortune on me...7 credit reports pulled in one month!
