So after months of working so hard to get my fico score up to where it needs to be to get a loan for my first home, I opened my email this morning to find myfico alerted that my score dropped 20 points. I am shocked to find that a collection agency that holds two accounts updated "Date reported" to 4/2011
Is this allowed, and also why did my score drop so far?
These accounts are both from verizon and the first date of delunquency was 2006. I also noticed that my experian report from august 2010 says that the account was due to be deleted december 2012...no my new report is sayin April 2013
I am so confused!
I am very new to all this as well
I appreciate any help thanks!
Date reported is the date the CA reports the information to the CRA.
It looks like they updated the account, which is legal.
Are these paid or unpaid?
If your DoFD is 2006, the correct drop date would be in 2013 or 2014 depending on the month of the DoFD.
These are unpaid. I sent a pay for delete letter 2 months ago, they did not respond but updated my account to this month
What would be a reason to report an update? What exactly is being "reported" if there were no changes to the account whatsoever all this time?
I am definately confused on why my FICO score would drop so much just because they updated "date reported" to this month.
Thanks for the help
If they haven't been updating in a while and then do, it can be made to look like a new collection.
I'm not sure it is supposed to work that way but, sometimes it does.
They can update monthly. I don't think they should be changing the date reported but maybe the status date.
Okay, yes they haven't changed it since July of last year. I am thinking they are trying to make this look like a new collection.
I am trying to find out if this is illegal. They updated all 3 CRA's to show April of this month.
I was thinking about disputing this, but was not sure if I had solid grounds
I don't think it shoud be the date reported they update because that will make it look new.
They should be updating the status date I think.
