unresponsive OC. call or keep writing?

macy's store card CO is for a measly $715 and i just want to pay if off but i never get a response from them. the visa portion of the card is for 3K so i'm getting contacted for that but radio silence on the $715 CO.

any advice for when the OC doesn't respond to letters? i'd like to get some opinions before i call because i'm nervous that they'll update once i pay instead of deleting and a 4+ year old CO will be brought current and bring my score down.

should i just keep sending letters?

send a debt validation letter first. then when they validate it.. start sending PFD certified mail.

I would say keep writing. A paper trail can be your best friend if you ever need it.
