validating the validation letter

when you send a DV letter to a CA and they respond back with a "validation" letter, how do you know the info is accurate/not made up??? it seems like they send the original creditors name and the same account number that pops on a TL that you're looking at on your own credit report and the amount you owe (again its on the tradeline that your looking at on your credit report).......

Re: validating the validation letter

FDCPA 809(b)requires that the debt collector "obtains verification" and mails that verification to the consumer.

It does not require that they provide supporting documents to support/prove their finding.  If they "make up" a verification, that is fraud.

If you suspect improper validation, your recourse is with the courts.
